Castro, Chile is second
largest town on Chiloe island it is located on the coast side facing the
continent. Castro was founded in 1567 it is one of the oldest cities in
Chile. Its unique and delicious local cuisine features Curanto which is
seafood and pork cooked in the ground with hot stones. That may sound a
little strange but the taste is great. For a city of its size it offers
a lot for the traveler in hotels, restaurants and points of interest. Castro
is easy to navigate on foot so the traveler can get a real feel for this
most interesting area of Chile.
